With spring in the ascendance and summer around the corner it gives us another chance to look at the feast of football design, culture and nostalgia that is Nike F.C.

The Spring 15 collection is now available featuring many a fresh product.

If you need a reminder as to what makes this collection SO good, I’d urge you to take a look at the book. It summarises the legacy, the players involved and contains heaps of bespoke art work and photography all supporting this undercurrent of footballing damn right glory.

Everton we are chosen header

At the tail end of last week, we featured the 15/16 season ticket campaign by Wolverhampton Wanderers – I mentioned how this time of year is always quite an awesome one for new products / releases and general creativity in and around the game. There’s a lot of planning done for the future and this is the time a lot comes to the fore.

So, up next is Everton and their 15/16 season ticket campaign. They haven’t dissapointed – far from it – they’ve smashed it. ‘We Are Chosen’ unites fans, players and staff in their support for the club they love. It’s an aspirational piece shot in fine fashion, the delivery is brilliant.

Ok, the European football season is yet to reach its conclusion throughout the land. We get that…alas – it is no great surprise that next years kits have or are being decided and clubs up and down the place are putting plans in place for what lies ahead in the 15/16 season.

I always look forward to this time of year, it’s a point in which many creative ideas come to fruition.

A fine example is that of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 15/16 early bird season ticket offer.

Acknowledging that supporting a team such as their – especially in recent years can be a topsy turvy affair but with the lows come the very highs. This is the bespoke site they have set up.

The creative is clean, making use of the clubs hallmark hexagonal shape embedded into the clubs culture.

This video helps tell the story, charting the clubs history – riding the roller coaster.

 

Really smart stuff from a well organised and design focused club. Wolves have created a beautiful brand and image of their club.

Spotted this rather smart poster from the great folk over at the National Football Museum in Manchester put together by Instruct Studio. It’s ace.

The museum’s Hall Of Fame has become a games centre for all ages; with pinball, arcade games, foosball, air hockey and heaps more. Plenty of football goodness on show if you’re stuck for something to do over half term.

Regular visitors to The 12elfth Man may know that we’re rather big fans of the creative execution AFC Bournemouth put out there to the world.

Teaming up with Bournemouth based creative agency, Parent, to develop their brand without unsettling the waters amongst fans has been money very well spent.

In doing so, they have smashed the delivery – creating a clear set of guidelines that embraces the history of the club whilst looking forward to what could be a very promising future.

Working on typography, tone, colours and photography – it has given the club something to hand their coat on and create a benchmark of brilliant design.

So much time for those that saw the need and addressed it, putting the fans and creativity side by side at the heart of what they do. I’m a massive fan.

So I can’t say I’ve really been one to do throwback Thursdays – nothing against the thing – just never done it. However, having seen a raft of beautiful things that were originally produced a few years back, I couldn’t help but get involved.

Atletico Madrid, what a way to finish off last season – absolutely epic. Spanish agency Vasava have got their feet well and truly in the football game. Champions of design and illustration they have a portfolio that is melt in the mouth good. A massive fan of their work, these pieces celebrating Atleticos title win are ace.

Rounding off our Throwback today is the February 2012 cover of Sport Magazine. Blueprinting the success of Barcelona – this is a stroke of genius. Huge fan of this.

Epic.

This collaborative project saw FC Barcelona and Nike combine forces with creative agency Oxigen.

The brief: To create Limited edition packaging that contains the FC Barcelona official jersey of the third team of the Champions of the season 2014/15.

The packaging must transmit in the light and the contrast of the colours of the jersey. Under the slogan “Flash of Brilliance” looks for an effect of luminosity and brightness of shines so much in the colours and in the finishes.

It is so beautiful.

Triumphant execution and exquisite delivery – gotta hand it to them, they have represented the values of FCB in an incredibly classy fashion. Respect for the club, respect for the shirt and respect to those behind it. Massive fan.
