PUMA today introduced the latest evoPOWER 1.2 football boot with a blazing new make-over. The high risk red and sea pine coloured boot will be exclusively launched on pitch by Cesc Fàbregas, who will wear it when his team Chelsea FC have to face Manchester United this Saturday night. After the weekend, the boot will also be worn by Olivier Giroud, Mario Balotelli, Dante and many other international football players.

The evoPOWER 1.2 with all its innovative technologies is made for power and accuracy when kicking the ball. Taking its inspiration from the movement of a barefoot, the boot provides maximum flexibility, which has an increased impact on the shooting power. The boot’s lightweight and super soft upper material stretches in a longitudinal not lateral direction allowing a freedom of movement while maintaining support. Accuracy is further improved with the GripTex print that runs across the full length of the upper, providing enhanced ball control in all weather conditions.

Added precision is created through the lightweight AccuFoam lining that provides a clean kicking surface.

The colours of the new evoPOWER 1.2 take its inspiration from the Japanese dragon, a traditional symbol for speed, power, wisdom and agility. The sea pine heel counter features a dragon skin graphic print, whilst the white formstripe create a striking contrast on the high risk red upper.

Speaking about the boot, Cesc Fàbregas said, “The new evoPOWER boot absolutely matches my taste, and as a Spaniard I can’t resist a red boot. It looks really striking and the heel with the dragon skin graphic gives it a special look. When I was told I will be the first player to wear it this weekend when we play Manchester United I naturally thought it was a real honour. It is an important match, and Manchester will be hard to beat as every point counts so close to the end of the season.”

The new colourway of the evoPOWER 1.2 boot will be available in-store and on puma.com from 1 May 2015. A full colour aligned collection including training apparel and accessories, shin pads and balls will also be available to purchase from that day.

Themed under the campaign of ‘Hold Nothing Back’the core feature of the new shirt is a chequerboard jacquard, which draws inspiration from the LFC fans in one of the most iconic stands in world football – The Kop.

Hold nothing back, they certainly haven’t. This was a big deal for the brand as much as the club – both delivering in fine fashion. The attention to detail on the kit is brilliant. In every essence, this is a football kit.

The flags and scarves fans hold aloft on match day create a visually captivating red and white mosaic, which is hinted at through the shirt. The design is linked to New Balance’s new LFC campaign, #HoldNothingBack, a reflection on the team and fans’ attitude towards the club. The kit is the first to be released by New Balance and will be available to buy from 14th May 2015.

The kit has a sleek and sophisticated style, and celebrates some of the classic moments of LFC’s history. It is reminiscent of shirts that club legends like Kenny Dalglish wore as part of the dominant side in the 1980s. The simplicity of the design honours the clubs illustrious heritage. The shirt is engineered to offer the players the latest in performance innovation, kit technology and garment optimisation.

The kit incorporates NB Dry, technology that helps keep the body cool and dry whilst being active. The moisture wicking fabric releases moisture away from the body, making it fast drying, and it is anatomically fitted to form around the player’s body shape for ease of movement. Finished with mesh panelling under the arms, the design aims to help airflow around the body. Twin needle stitching runs around the circumference of the shirts hem and twin heat transfer tipping to the cuff gives a seam-free finish and to prevent abrasion. The unmistakable Liverpool red with the front panel jacquard is finished with an integrated collar.

We’ve seen many clubs we re-imagined and re-branded by talented followers of the game. Designers worldwide, united by that passion to use their talents and apply them to the football world.

Thinking about it, there are few ways to make football manager better but designing your own team brand and kits could take it to a whole new level. Oh how I long for the addition, as a manager, to decide whether we re-brand in house or extend it to an external agency…I digress, clearly.

Luis Callegari is a talented chap, based in Argentina. He’s put together a brilliant variety of work relating to football that you can see on his behance page here.

Most recently, putting together a full suite of creative to support the J-League’s Yokohama Marinos. It’s brilliant. Personally, I’m a fan of all things nautical so a little sucker for this but it can most certainly be appreciated by all. A logo, Kits, scarves and more – he’s got it all covered in a superb fashion.

A million stories to be told and countless people doing them. That’s one of the greatest things about football in my opinion. Clubs, players, fans and staff – all have countless stories and memories – fresh ones created each week.

Documenting these, and in brilliant fashion too, is something that many are doing. Today’s emphasis is on Nottingham Forest – a club of clout – winners at the highest level.

Like-minded appreciators, the club clearly are. Brilliant photography, a smart layout and overall attention to detail clearly goes into their design work. It’s a big year for the club as they look to celebrate their 150th anniversary which I’m sure will be celebrated in a similarly well crafted way.

PUMA today revealed their latest limited edition football boot evoACCURACY. Being a part of the evoPOWER family, the new special edition boot is engineered to maximise precision and accuracy when shooting and passing the ball. The fluorescent yellow and green, peacoat and white boot will exclusively be worn by Mario Balotelli from today.

Through the ultra-lightweight Pebax foam lining underneath the upper material, the new evoACCURACY presents an extra clean kicking surface which enhances the player’s accuracy. The fluorescent green coloured Griptex print on the medial sides of the boots provides additional grip and control with the ball, and further adds to an accurate and precise style of play in all weather conditions.

Like the evoPOWER, evoACCURACY features a lightweight and super soft microfiber AdaptLite upper material that stretches in a longitudinal not lateral direction allowing a freedom of movement while maintaining support. Combined with the Gradual Stability Frame (GSF) outsole technology, the foot bends with a kinetic motion similar to a barefoot.

evoACCURACY has a special design featuring a colour fading effect from the florescent yellow forefront to the white heel. The boot has a peacoat coloured PUMA formstripe on the lateral side, with a PUMA cat logo placed on the medial side. Finishing touch for this special edition boot is the ‘MB45’ logo that is located on the heel.

Smart.

The work of Hana Asano is something I keep falling in love with. Her eye for grabbing natural yet emotive football imagery is damn right awesome.

Most recently, teaming up with LA Galaxy for the launch of their second shirt – it gave us a more organic and genuine taste of football. A kit launch of modesty, let the shirt compliment the beautiful surroundings and shoot it with a strong eye for composition.

Following on from that – Hana brought boots to the fore, following those that belong to Omar Gonzalez over the course of a tough day of pre-season training.

‘A Day in the life of Omar Gonzalez’s adidas Nitrocharge Boots’ is another stroke of genius. Again, beautiful products (the Nitrocharge are up there as some of the best of the year for me ), in an incredible setting, shot with a strong eye for composition… Nailed it.
