Thanks goes out to one like-minded gent and appreciator of the creative side of the game – Eric Beard for introducing Kendall and myself.

Kendall is a designer based out in the US who was fortunate enough to work with Nike, producing a series of Newspaper headline inspired prints that were used as part of the back drop for a Nike product shoot.

Showcasing the limited edition Neymar JR Golden Hypervenom that he wore in the latter stages of the World Cup, each print uses elements of the Brazilian national team – charting the career path that Neymar has been on.

Beautifully done, I’ve got so much time for these. If the boots were not beautiful enough, then the associating art work tips it to another level. See more of Kendall’s work here.

In the latest episode of Gamedayplus from adidas, Mesut Özil explains his Champions League ambitions while Suarez, Müller, Marcelo, Costa, Coentrao and Gerrard talk about the pressure of penalty kicks.

On top of that, god-like genius himself Leo Messi talks about the new F50 Pide de Barr10 boots, their design inspiration and how they came about. You can see more about those beauts here.

It’s another fine instalment, a glimpse behind the scenes in the world of adidas football – You can watch it here:

Looking at the numbers, the career of Leo Messie is quite frankly, remarkable. The statistics don’t lie with 2015 turning out to be another record breaker.

belonged to Leo Messi. No player in any major league has scored more goals than the Argentinian. Leo has been directly involved in 22 La Liga goals this year; no other TEAM has scored more than 21. His most recent hat-trick made him the all-time leader in La Liga hat-tricks, at just 27. Now, adidas has unveiled the new boots that will be worn by arguably the world’s best player. The new Pibe de Barr10, inspired by the Barrio of Las Heras, Rosario, where Messi learnt his craft.

Key Visual_2x1

Las Heras was where Leo Messi first began his journey. The streets and pitches of the Barrio are where he first shaped his game. The new Pibe de Barr10 were designed in collaboration with Rosario-born graphic artist Ignacio Valenti in a style that pays tribute to Messi’s childhood. Fusing urban-inspired raw brush strokes with polished sleekness on the synthetic hybrid touch upper, the Pibe de Barr10 embodies Leo Messi’s footballing style; beautiful, yet dangerous. It’s a special boot – certainly one for the appreciator.

Speaking about his new signature boots, Leo Messi said: “I did leave Rosario when I was young, but I still have my people, my neighborhood, and my favorite spots. Pibe de Barr10 have a lot to do with my life, my childhood and a lot to do with me.”

The boot has been created as part of the #therewillbehaters series that celebrates the “hate” at the heart of football. There were some that never believed Leo Messi would leave Rosario, but he has gone on to break records and win trophies. You don’t get to be the best in the world by listening to the doubters. Messi wears the Pibe de Barr10 and there’s nothing the haters can do to stop him.

The Pibe de Barr10 contain the latest product innovations demanded by the best in the world. The speed traxion stud alignment and outsole are modeled on sprinters’ spikes, to provide the speed and agility to dominate on the pitch. 360˚ DRIBBLETEX coating provides for unprecedented control. In wet or dry conditions, the ball will stick like glue.

Max Gassner, Product Manager at adidas said: “The lines on the shoe are based on an idea from a local artist from Rosario, where Leo Messi is from. This shoe is for the biggest player in the world, for the ultimate stage. If you want to get the best boot, for the biggest stage, for the best player, this is the one.”

Leo Messi will wear the new Pibe de Barr10 from Wednesday 18th March, with the boots available to purchase the following day. You can get more info at

A ferocious boot, built for the elite, with style. Big fan.

Football has a unique trait in that it only takes one word to jog a million memories. Football boots, for so many reasons manage to strike that chord so sweetly. Every football lover remembers their first pair along with all those beautiful moments – watching, playing and supporting.

The word iconic is to be used sparingly, to be saved for moments of brilliance – that stay in the mind, carrying a legacy.

There’s no arguing about the Morelia from Mizuno – it has stood the test of time, going through tweaks rather than overhauls. For 30 years, this boot has graced the world’s biggest stage and it has done so, in a strong and unique fashion.

This also gave Mizuno the chance to bring their story to the fore – Some truly memorable footballing moments have happened while in the presence of a Mizuno boot. It’s not until you get up close to their boots until the memories come back and you realise just how stunning they are.

These are truly one of the most incredible boots, ever. If we don’t see these return in some form, it would be a travesty.

And as well as a glance back at the past, it gave us a chance to see where the brand is now and boots that are being championed today. Again, a range of models were on display and again, it wasn’t until up close and personal until you realise the engineering and craftsmanship that has gone into these boots – utterly awesome.

Recently you might have seen a couple of posts about pre-season campaigns by a couple of clubs on home shores… I thought it only right to take a look at some work that is going on overseas. Where better to look than Brazil?

And so, here is ‘Cada 1 é 11’ by Brazilian giants Sport Club Internacional – direct translation of ‘Each 1 is 11’ – a campaign that aims to express that the fans are as much part of the starting 11…as the starting 11. Quite often the 12th Man and inspiration behind the name of this here blog, there’s no denying that fans make the beautiful game we all go nuts for.

With the help of Brazilian photographer Thiago Peraça the Porto Alegre based club have delivered a campaign of high value – sporting a pretty swish (swoosh) kit in a belter of a stadium to boot.

This is a really smart campaign – so clean and well packaged – this is piece is in the build up for an upcoming fixture. Simple and effective.

How about this for a place to do the biz too – the Estádio Beira-Rio, notably one of the 2014 Brazil World Cup Venues. It’s a work of art in itself.

adidas today rolled out a new series of films featuring some of the biggest sporting names on the planet – from the the football world; Messi, Suarez and Bale all feature.

The tag line for the campaign sums it up perfectly.

Yesterday is gone. Today is up for grabs. Do something and be remembered. No one owns today. Take it.

“Sport 15 is more than a campaign. This is a long-term investment into our brand,” says Eric Liedtke, adidas Board Member responsible for Global Brands. “adidas has a longer legacy in every sport than any of our competitors. We know sports and athletes better than anyone else.”

The film series brings to life what can happen in a split moment in sports. It looks at the unique role sports plays in our culture where every moment is a chance to redefine yourself and create something new for you or your team.

“In sports, no one owns today,” said King. “Every minute of every game is up for grabs and yours for the taking.”

Loving this set of portraits that have gone with it:

Pretty damn smart.
