adidas has today revealed a boot made heel to toe from their revolutionary Primeknit material. The adidas Primeknit 2.0 is the latest update of the original Primeknit boot, launched and worn on pitch last year by Luis Suarez.

The all-new Primeknit 2.0 model brings together two key adidas innovation projects – the original Samba Primeknit boot, and the Primeknit FS (Footy Sock) prototype; which was a “concept” boot presented by adidas in 2014.

Based on the construction insights gained from the Primeknit FS, the Primeknit 2.0 comes enhanced with “compression fit” technology. An all-new compression tongue includes Lycra yarns designed to wrap around the midfoot area and create a maximum lockdown effect. The boot also features a new anatomical heel shape and design, following the natural shape of the back of the foot to provide optimum support.

The forefoot contains a knit structure specifically designed to aid control. The control knit structure offers 3D texture that combines ultimate ball control with unrivalled manoeuvrability and traction by way of the f50 adizero outsole.

The “outer shell” of the Primeknit 2.0 comprises of a zoned knitted upper with a lightweight vacuum coated skin to protect the yarns and retain a soft surface, meaning the boot is at home in any weather, on any pitch.

Following on from the recent release of the adizero 99g, the lightest boot of all time available for purchase, the Primeknit 2.0 is the latest product to be launched as part of the new adidas Football “Limited Collection”. Footwear items to be included in the “Limited Collection” range will be those released in super-limited quantities, which also showcase the best in adidas Football innovation and / or collaboration.

With just 10,000 pairs available globally, the boots will be the hottest property on the field of play when a selection of the world’s best players debut the boots during UEFA Champions League Quarter Final Second Leg matches later this week.

Teaming up with top photographers from favourites of ours, SM2 Studio, Birmingham City have unveiled their 2015/16 season ticket campaign in fine fashion.

With a high standard throughout, this imagery helps showcase the message – bringing together the city, the club and the fans. The presentation is delivered with fine taste, incorporating land marks of Birmingham into the players. Top photography and great composition, this is an all round, smart campaign with design work being done by Birmingham City.

Unveiled at Anfield, in proud fashion, New Balance and Liverpool team up for the fresh and tasty 2015/16 home kit.

Themed under the campaign of ‘Hold Nothing Back’the core feature of the new shirt is a chequerboard jacquard, which draws inspiration from the LFC fans in one of the most iconic stands in world football – The Kop.

Hold nothing back, they certainly haven’t. This was a big deal for the brand as much as the club – both delivering in fine fashion. The attention to detail on the kit is brilliant. In every essence, this is a football kit.

The flags and scarves fans hold aloft on match day create a visually captivating red and white mosaic, which is hinted at through the shirt. The design is linked to New Balance’s new LFC campaign, #HoldNothingBack, a reflection on the team and fans’ attitude towards the club. The kit is the first to be released by New Balance and will be available to buy from 14th May 2015.

The kit has a sleek and sophisticated style, and celebrates some of the classic moments of LFC’s history. It is reminiscent of shirts that club legends like Kenny Dalglish wore as part of the dominant side in the 1980s. The simplicity of the design honours the clubs illustrious heritage. The shirt is engineered to offer the players the latest in performance innovation, kit technology and garment optimisation.

The kit incorporates NB Dry, technology that helps keep the body cool and dry whilst being active. The moisture wicking fabric releases moisture away from the body, making it fast drying, and it is anatomically fitted to form around the player’s body shape for ease of movement. Finished with mesh panelling under the arms, the design aims to help airflow around the body. Twin needle stitching runs around the circumference of the shirts hem and twin heat transfer tipping to the cuff gives a seam-free finish and to prevent abrasion. The unmistakable Liverpool red with the front panel jacquard is finished with an integrated collar.

We’ve seen many clubs we re-imagined and re-branded by talented followers of the game. Designers worldwide, united by that passion to use their talents and apply them to the football world.

Thinking about it, there are few ways to make football manager better but designing your own team brand and kits could take it to a whole new level. Oh how I long for the addition, as a manager, to decide whether we re-brand in house or extend it to an external agency…I digress, clearly.

Luis Callegari is a talented chap, based in Argentina. He’s put together a brilliant variety of work relating to football that you can see on his behance page here.

Most recently, putting together a full suite of creative to support the J-League’s Yokohama Marinos. It’s brilliant. Personally, I’m a fan of all things nautical so a little sucker for this but it can most certainly be appreciated by all. A logo, Kits, scarves and more – he’s got it all covered in a superb fashion.

A million stories to be told and countless people doing them. That’s one of the greatest things about football in my opinion. Clubs, players, fans and staff – all have countless stories and memories – fresh ones created each week.

Documenting these, and in brilliant fashion too, is something that many are doing. Today’s emphasis is on Nottingham Forest – a club of clout – winners at the highest level.

Like-minded appreciators, the club clearly are. Brilliant photography, a smart layout and overall attention to detail clearly goes into their design work. It’s a big year for the club as they look to celebrate their 150th anniversary which I’m sure will be celebrated in a similarly well crafted way.
