Football is full of uber talented and passionate people. In creating this blog I feel blessed to have been able to find all sorts of creative folk I would quite simply describe as mavericks. Carving up the cultured side of football with many a gift.
Le Ballon is just that. Better yet, it’s a collective of mavericks.
In short, Le Ballon is a bar / café in Paris with a massive love for football. That’s an ignorant scratch of the surface from me though. What lies beneath is nothing short of superb.
Living by the mantra of “YOU’LL NEVER DRINK ALONE”, it is not just a sports bar but a club – self-described as:
‘a place where no man (nor woman) should have to drink alone for love of his team. We embrace football geeks, football louts, football nuts and just plain old regular football fans. John Barnes is our favourite rapper, Kappa our tracksuit of choice and a beer poured at half-time our most precious moment.’
You couldn’t ask for a better description. That pretty much defines my favourite type of watering hole.
Like I said though, that is scratching the surface. Le Ballon has gone one further, reaching out to its members and created a league of its own. Turning to the pitches of Paris, the pints are down (during game time that is) and 8 teams are set to do battle for the honour of being the Le Ballon Football League champions.
Clearly bringing together a few creative minds with this one – we’re big, BIG fans of participants Bled FC – similar champions of football and its beautiful side – each team is branded and ready for battle, I’m in love with the badges the teams have produced shown above and below are the Paris 75ers, Public House FC, Atletico Paris and Paname Patriots // quite simply: Awesome.
Massive fans, I can only praise this and the work of Le Ballon. Ace. If you’re in Paris and fancy dropping in for a pint you can find them at 17 rue Mazagran, Paris, France
