Just a real quick one to wish you wonderfully fine football lovers a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

I hope both are equally good for you!

It’s been a fantastic year for football, we’ve been blessed with heaps of magic to gawp at, both on and off the pitch.

2015 is bound to be another belter and we’ll be doing all we can to provide you with the ultimate resource, filling that space where football meets design, creativity and all things awesome.

A massive thanks for visitng. Here’s to you!

MERRY

You may remember a couple of weeks back now, we headed down to the boot lovers palace that is Pro Direct Soccer’s LDN19 concept store on Carnaby Street for the Pantofola d’Oro ‘Made to Measure’ event.

You can see all about that here.

The event gave football lovers like ones self, the chance to meet the team behind what is a truly beautiful brand. A family brand, that prides themselves on their product and one that epitomises just how football, product design and fashion can cross paths, seamlessly though triumphantly.

We were also given the unique opportunity to design our own pair of boots. From the materials used, the cut of the shoe, the soul plates – just about everything that goes into the manufacturing of a personalised pair of football boots. A dream opportunity.

When it comes to personalisation, it didn’t just stop at the colours / shape and size – it went to the next level – we were invited to leave our own personal scribble, shall we say, which as you can see has been stitched onto the boot.

A traditional style boot – this is the Lazzarini model. You can see a full range of cuts and colours on the Pro Direct site here. They literally look incredible from every angle. It’s very hard not to just gawp at these.

No nonsense but pure class – they stand the test of the time and would own any pitch, no doubt.

Being a Bristol City season ticket holder, there was only one colour for me but perhaps that is what makes these boots so incredible. No matter what colourway you go for, they grab the attention. A boot for the cultured player.

Dubbed the ‘Golden Slipper’ – they are easily THE most comfortable boot I have ever owned. From the pitch to the park, these are special. They’d be worth every single penny.

With design at the heart of Pantofola d’Oro, we are head over heels for them. The brand is beautiful, the products are sensational and the finish tremendous. Equally, the boots in pride of place at Pro Direct Soccer / LDN19 – creative champions themselves, this is a masterclass in cultured football.

If you’re at the point where you’ve spent enough on others this Christmas and fancy treating yourself with a new boot for the new year, I like to think my gushing over the above shows just how much I love mine.

Next up, we’ll take ’em to the pitch and get some more snaps.

Big, big thanks to Pro Direct Soccer and Pantofola d’Oro. Creative champions.

There are countless reasons we passionate football loving folk, fall for the beautiful game. It is one of the few passions that strikes a chord of interest, wherever you are across the globe. Equally, it reaches out to so many human beings. It can be used for good, bringing people together and inspiring generation to generation.

Recently, ‘Goal Click’ was brought to our attention. It’s one of those initiatives we had a lot of time for, right from the off.

They will be photos that symbolise football in their country, with the best photos brought together in an exhibition. We’ve been treated to some incredible, truly remarkable products, design and creativity in 2014. As the year winds down, the fun doesn’t stop but it does give us a chance to look back at some of our favourite things.

Robin Gundersen has treated us to so many great illustrations. Here’s some of his best from the last year:

2014 has been one hell of a year for football boot lovers. Creativity has been booming.

As part of their 20 years of the predator celebrations, adidas football put out several variants and colourways of the ‘Predator Instinct’.

We didn’t want the year to go by without us taking a good look see at some ourselves. Enjoy some snaps of the Supernatural Predator Instinct.

Ryu Voelkel is a freelance photographer based in Brazil. Working with a raft of top brands, he turned his hand to sports photography in 2005 and is an absolute powerhorse in story telling – he is supremely talented.

You can see that here.

Most recently, Ryu took on the challenge of documenting the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil through the medium of photography. Following that adventure, he has been able to showcase his perspective of the events through his book ‘No Hands’.

In it’s own words:

From Neymar on the pitch to Brazilians having a kickabout in a favela, No Hands captures all the key moments. With this collection, Voelkel helps define the beautiful game at its greatest event.

To echo that, it truly is a beautiful book. From all angles, this paints the picture, the vibrancy and the soul that ran through the 2014 world cup in Brazil.

It’s presented tremendously, both in layout and presentation – if like us, you go weak at the knees for well crafted football design – this will in no doubts, be right up your street.
