Always ones for looking on the smarter side of things, Paul Smith released a limited edition Football to celebrate the world cup back in June.
Pretty hot property it was too. Only 200 made and at £199 a pop they were all snapped up!
The film that went with it though is perhaps the real success. Directed by young British film-maker Oliver Hadlee Pearch, it takes keepy-uppy from the schoolyard to one of the designer’s most iconic shops; Westbourne House in London’s
Bringing new meaning to “suited and booted”, in his Paul Smith Travel Suit, Guinness world record holder and former football freestyle world champion, John Farnworth pirouettes through the shop. Throughout, the football–one of just 200 produced–bounces perfectly on the toe or marbled soles of his Paul Smith Grand brogues. John barely breaks a sweat, but most importantly his suit doesn’t break a crease either.
Nice work Paul Smith. We salute you.
In a bold and blue fashion, Man Utd have unveiled the clubs 3rd Kit by Nike.
For the 2014-15 season, Manchester United will play in a stylish and innovative new third kit.
Consisting entirely of two tones of blue, the kit is inspired by United’s tradition of blue kits from the 1980s, as well as uniform worn when they became the first English side to win the European Cup in 1968.
The shirt, shorts and socks are all a rich and vibrant blue on the front with a darker tone of the same color on the entire back. These two tones are divided by a red stripe on both sides of the kit representing United’s famous home color.
These stripes stretch from the collar, along both shoulders, down each side of the shirt, shorts and right down to the socks.
The half-and-half appearance is a traditional football design, but this is the first season it has ever been used on the front and back.
The shirt boasts a classic design with a sophisticated polo neck collar and three buttons in the darker tone of blue.
Inside the back of the neck is a label with the message, “Youth, Courage, Greatness” to represent the club’s values.
The new third kit will be available to purchase in stores from September 25.
While this new kit features Nike’s signature style and passion, it has also been designed to offer players the very latest in performance innovation, kit technology and environmental sustainability.
Ok, so it’s not an area we’d normally look at but this is a great little campaign that Sky have created.
As despairing football fans across the country reach breaking point, Sky Sports have called upon iconic presenter Jim White to be their saviour, by serving as the voice behind the Sky Sports GoalLine – a unique helpline designed to rescue those caught in a post-World Cup comedown.
Those in need of a football fix should simply dial 0333 202 2177, to hear the concerned voice of Jim White, who, with tongue firmly in cheek, will rescue them from their despair. Jim White said: “I can sympathise with all of those fans out there – until Sky Sports asked me to help out on the GoalLine I was on the brink – I simply had no idea how I was going to cope over these next few weeks! I couldn’t be happier knowing that we’ll be doing our bit to help fans relive their team’s greatest moments of last season, reminding them that we’ll be back with them every kick of the way, with more of the games that matter live on Sky Sports from August 16th.”
Hayley McQueen, who joined Jim to launch the GoalLine, said: “We’re always engaging with our viewers on Sky Sports News, and from what they were saying it was clear a helpline was needed to fill the void of top-flight football. We’re both fully on board and ready to do our upmost to support fans during this testing time!”
