So following all from all this badge talk. I wanted to look a what Coventry City have done for the current 2011/12 football season.
It’s a cool concept that they have executed dry well, essentially rebranding for one football season. As part of a 50 year anniversary the club has reverted back to a crest used across the board in the 60s. Its not so unexpected but more exciting to see how this design from the 60s is so damn contemporary now.
The logo is being used on all aspects of the clubs branding, full kit as well as leisurewear and further merchandise etc.
Good on ’em for embracing their history so well. The fans have embraced it whole heatedly and it’s a fitting tribute to the clubs past.
Creative agency CDPW worked with Coventry on the execution of this project.
Thanks to footballzone.co.uk for the programme images, fresh from the 60s.
